I Have a Tip for You

I have a tip for you!!

As you have seen, probably a bit too much, I have been working with string quilting projects. I am making the companion to my Friday Finish Quilted Pillow top.
Again I have used the 10" quilt papers Missouri Star Quilt Co.
I love these papers and they are very easy to tear when you shorten your stitch length to 1.5mm. HOWEVER :), when using strips that are very narrow, 1.5 inches of less it can be hard to get things started and on the right track.

Soo, my great tip is to use scissors to start the process as shown here:

Then, crease the paper on the stitching line and tear the paper away.
Brilliant, or maybe just obvious!!
First block of the next pillow.
Hope this helps ya'll.

Star Pillow Finish

Star Pillow Finish!!

You have seen it every step of the way. Here it is FINISHED!
Piped in orange. It will have a mate. Will post when they are together. Love scrap projects.
If you look carefully you can see scraps from a number of my previous posts!
How many can you find?

Also, I have been pleased and amazed at the response to my entries in the Blogger's Quilt Festival. Thank you to every one who has visited. I would love for you to follow me.

 Megan's Buttons and Bows

This is my second entry in the Blogger's quilt festival.
2014 I will enter in the Home Machine Quilted category.
This was made for a very special young lady. The "Buttons" are machine embroidery for safety and permanence :)
There is one "surprise" block. Yes, it was intentional and I like to do that in many of my quilts.
This is a great festival. Thanks Amy!!

String Pillows (WIP)

I have been saving scraps and strings, like most of us. I really have tendencies toward hoarding sewwwww, I have to have something really special to inspire me to use my "good" scraps.
I think I came up with the idea from one of Missouri Star Quilt Co. videos. She used a special rules. I just winged it. I did use the 10" Missouri Star foundation paper blocks. These work great and you get LOTS.
I measured down about 2" from the point of the square and cut to a point at the other end. Then. I picked out strings, more or less at random. They are 1-2 inches in width.

Sew, flip, press, repeat.  Made 4 blocks and arranged into a STAR!.
I am quilting this one now. Have another one planned. They have a lot of special fabrics from quilts that I have made in the past that have gone to new homes.
I am posting this on WIP (work in progress) Wednesday at one of my favorite blogs Freshly Pieced. Check it out you will LOVE her work.
Does anyone have suggestions for the back of the pillows? I think it will be blue. My fave. I will probably put in a couple of random strings too.
This has really been a fun project.
