Central Park Quilt

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

This quilt top was made from the other half of a Central Park Jelly Roll. The Citrus Sunshine Quilt was made from the first half. The solid is Kona Stone. I designed the quilt from a pattern I saw on Pinterest, with  some changes. I think it is fun.
This will be Quilted on the Beast, my new, to me Brother PQ1300. That is MY dream machine!.

Citrus Sunshine Quilt--Finished!!

Citrus Sunshine Quilt -- Finished!!

With all of its orangey, lemony and limey goodness, the Citrus Sunshine Quilt is finally complete. The binding is a small, sort of animal print that is orange and yellow. The backing is a green background with multicolored polka dots.
It has some random piecing in a strip near the top.
Measures 30 x 43 inches. Perfect size for an infant or small child.
Now, does any one have a little one who would LOVE this??
I plan to put it in my Etsy Shop.

Grey X Pillow Cover

Grey X Pillow Cover

Started, or restarted a new pillow cover. I have had scraps that I have been piecing together for a while. Finally, I decided to use them for a pillow cover. An entire quilt of tiny scraps just seemed a bit much. I took some Kona Coal that would be the main part of the pillow. I pieced a strip of about 24" long of grey and blue scraps. The original width of the scrap strip was about 2.75". I then sliced it in half.
The original plan was just to cut out a square for the pillow cover, slice it diagonally, sew the strip in and then repeat. That looked a bit plain. So, I pulled out some Kona Ash and attached a 1 inch wide piece to each side of the strip. That seemed to work better.

The strip on the bottom is tucked underneath the 2 cut pieces of the square. The top strip is just laid over the other, thus the difference in the width.
I am toying around with several different ideas for the quilting. May combine some free motion with straight line, walking foot quilting in different sections. Please let me know what you think.

WIP Citrus Sunshine

Citrus Sunshine

I have made a bit of progress on this yellow quilt. A visitor who commented on a previous blog post on this quilt that said it reminded her of the colors of lemons and limes. I thought that fit since I live in Florida, so I named this one
"Citrus Sunshine". It is a modification of a strip and flip quilt. (see previous posts) I am free motion quilting with wavy lines alternating with loops.
Maybe I will get to post it as a "finish" soon!!

Progress, WIP Here we go, again!

WIP Wednesday

Completed my quilt top Sunday. I used the general principle of Cluck, Cluck, Sew's Strip and Flip Baby Quilt.

I made a few changes, such as adding the solid strip between each print. In this version I cut the solid strips 2 inches and the prints are 2.5 inches. Then, as the name implies, I cut a section and flipped it with a different print strip on either side of the "flipped" section.
I am linking up with Lee at Freshly Pieced

There are a lot of projects with links to really good blogs. Check them out.

Will take it to "Show 'n Tell" at Tampa Modern Quilt Guild on Saturday. Hope they like it. You too. Please leave comments and follow me by email or via Bloglovin.
Thanks ya'll!!

Here We Go AGAIN

I have had a Central Park scrap bag by Kate Spain for Moda Fabrics that I purchased a while back from Southern Fabric. At the time they had an Etsy store but now have a web based store. Ya'll know that I LOVE anything Southern, particularly my home state of Georgia, so this Milledgeville GA shop is one of my faves.
Anyway, I have been hoarding this scrap bag but have now decided to cut into it and make something. A baby quilt, I think. I plan to make 2 as there are lots of strips in this scrap bag. I divided the scrape into 2 colorways one with the yellow and orange being the predominant colors and another, that I will show later with the green and purple strips. I have paired the yellow/orange strips with Kona solids Butter that is really one "delicious" color (sorry, bad pun).

I am making this one up as I go, as usual, thus, here we go again. LOL.
Will make this my link for this week at WIP Wednesdays, at Freshly Pieced. I will keep you updated. Maybe someday I'll report the "finish".

String Pillows (WIP)

I have been saving scraps and strings, like most of us. I really have tendencies toward hoarding sewwwww, I have to have something really special to inspire me to use my "good" scraps.
I think I came up with the idea from one of Missouri Star Quilt Co. videos. She used a special rules. I just winged it. I did use the 10" Missouri Star foundation paper blocks. These work great and you get LOTS.
I measured down about 2" from the point of the square and cut to a point at the other end. Then. I picked out strings, more or less at random. They are 1-2 inches in width.

Sew, flip, press, repeat.  Made 4 blocks and arranged into a STAR!.
I am quilting this one now. Have another one planned. They have a lot of special fabrics from quilts that I have made in the past that have gone to new homes.
I am posting this on WIP (work in progress) Wednesday at one of my favorite blogs Freshly Pieced. Check it out you will LOVE her work.
Does anyone have suggestions for the back of the pillows? I think it will be blue. My fave. I will probably put in a couple of random strings too.
This has really been a fun project.
