FINISHED!!!

Finally, THE 100 HST Triangle Pillow Cover!

Wow! What fun to pull this out of the dryer all warm and squishy! It was a lot of work. As much as a quilt, almost. I am happy with the way it turned out if I squint my eyes and don't look too closely! Used orange piping. Orange is, at least for now, my favorite accent color. It measures 16 x 16. Has an envelope back. There are 2 different shades of white, also randomly placed.

 I found this absolutely, insanely gorgeous tourquoise Gutterman thread in my stash. I do not know on what I originally bought it to use but it was PERFECT!

UFO: Is it time to finish it up???

I do not remember when I started this table runner. Over 1 year ago. The main fabric is a homespun and the "squares" are scraps of some of my favorites. 
 I pieced the squares and put together the runner and started on the quilting. I wanted it to be straight lines with lots of different angles.
I got really tired of the quilting and it has been marinating for a year or so. I have debated several times throwing it in the trash. Just not sure. 

   

The largest square is 6-7 inches. The smaller ones 4-6 inches.
I have a binding picked out in Orange!!

Small, 3.5 x 3.5 x 2" paper box. Painted in lime green and light blue. Topped with Sea Shells.

Update on 100 HSTs

Pillow Cover 

It is all sewn together!! 10 rows x 10 columns.

I love surprises don't you :). Look on the right side near the middle.

Now I will layer it. Have to decide how to quilt it. I think stippling would be a good contrast with all of the straight lines, but straight lines are kinda calling me too.

All of the points aren't perfect but I still believe it makes a statement.

100, Yes, 100 HSTs

Start with some scraps, I have LOTS of scraps. Make some HSTs. Wow, I think these would make a nice pillow cover. Hmmmm, how many will I need? 10 rows x 10 columns would make a nice size. 

WHAT???? that's 100, YES, ONE HUNDRED HSTs.

Fabric Bowl

I LOVE making fabric bowls. I use cotton clothesline and use fabric from thrifted clothing that I sanitize with bleach.
 I cut, or usually tear, them into 1.5" strips and wrap the clothesline. Zigzag with about a 5mm wide stitch so that the swing will hit both of the cords.

 Shape as you go by tilting the bowl. I use a glue stick that is washable and acid free (most are) to connect the strips. Important to remember. You need to coil and sew clockwise, left to right and make sure the right side of the fabric is showing when you wrap. I coil the fabric for about 6 inches and then place a pin to hold it in place while I zigzag. 

This method can be used for coasters, bowls. wall hangings and bags. Just modify the shape and the size. I finish off mine with hand picked shells from the West Coast of Florida. I leave about a 6 inch length of the cord and glue it in the desired shape to the bowl with an industrial adhesive. When the glue is dry I use the same adhesive to attach the shell.  

Patio Furniture ReDo, A Different Sewing Project

The past few weeks I have been occupied by a "different" type of sewing project. It's really not so different because "Home Dec" sewing was really what brought me to sewing. I have made curtains, draperies, pillows, shams, duvet covers, slip covers, cornice boards, dust ruffles and just about anything you can think of in that regard. I still enjoy it. 

I love the fabric from Fabric Guru. I always go to their clearance section. Some of the fabrics are printed slightly off register but the price is fantastic. These were less than $5.00/yard for great quality outdoor fabric. 

The sofa is a $40.00 Craig's List find.

On The Go Quilt

This is my version of the Moda Bakeshop Recipe On The Go Baby Boy quilt.
It is for the baby brother of Megan, who received Megan's Buttons and Bows.

 Free motion quilted in a "Square Stipple". Don't know if that is a term or not but that's what I call it.
